This is a great idea if you have issues bending, kneeling or if physically restricted. Also a good option in awkward or restricted spaces, or where there is poor and/or contaminated soil, or no ground level soil available.
As part of this upgrade an automated drip irrigation system was installed to the beds plus compost bins for veggie and kitchen scraps that will ultimately be recycled (to compost), and respread on the beds periodically. Other benefits include;
- ease of access for harvesting produce and topping up compost and mulch
- less prone to weeds and root invasion
- adaptable for climbing veggies with mesh and pegs as illustrated.
- easy to cover individual beds with shadecloth to protect your crops from summer heat, or with bird nets, via taller pegs in beds for support
